The Rebuild

Tein HA coil overs.
These are actually for an FTO but will fit the lancer with minor mods

Here is the Intercooler I will be using, The cooler is supplies by Plazmaman, the core is 550x365x75mm plus end tanks. The tanks are not quite right as the cooler was made for a Series 5 RX7, so I will have to modify the tanks a little (ie: shit loads...as in cut them off and make new ones.).

I now have my GSR wreck, I have pulled the thing down to a bare shell and have a few parts up for sale, Email me if you need any GSR parts and I will let you know if I have them or not....

16/04/01
I have now cut the floor pan out of the GSR wreck.

Update 27/12/01

This is to give a general idea on the size of the intercooler

Here are a few pics of the progress on the floor pan, this is how the car is sitting at the moment.

I have dummy fit the diff and crossmembers etc, I now need to weld in the captive plates, floor sheeting and the diff mount cross member. The body work will be getting done the same time the floor is getting completed.

I have also Picked up my wheels, The wheels are WORK VS ZF's 18x7" with Falken FK451's in 225/35/18ZR. These wheels are no longer in the current WORK catalogue, Thanks goes to Steve Maslen from Australia's Best Tyre Service for helping me source the wheels. :) This photo really does not do these wheels justice, I will have some pics of the wheels bolted to the car soon.

Update 16/02/2002

I have now finished my 5 stud conversion. I have cleaned and painted the front and rear hub carriers in grey hammertone paint. Pressed in new bearings and seals all round. The front hubs are from a 1G Mitsubishi Eclips from the States (Magna TS hubs can also be used, DOH). The rear uses later model Magna hubs because the bearings in the rear of an EVO are wider than the fronts, there for if you use a hub from the front and press it into the rear bearing, I would have been left with a 6mm gap. So I sused out the later model hubs which suit a wider bearing , closer to the GSR/EVO rear bearings. The only problem with this is that the later Magna's run a 27 spline CV joint, and the lancer runs a 25 spline joint and the drive shaft its self is 22 spline, SO, I now needed to find a CV joint witha 27 spline outer, that would accept a 22 spline shaft, as it turnes out a outer CV joint for a Subaru Liberty will fit with some minor mechiening. The good news is that I can now bolt my 18's to the car. Stay tuned for pics soon. basicly the 5 stud conversion is a pain in the but, but worth it in my eyes. 5 spoke wheels just dont look right drilled for 4 studs, and also, with the sort of power I am after, the 5 stud will be much stronger.

Update 25/02/02
I have finally got some pics of the wheels bolted to the car. I am running a 38 offset and the wheels are almost a perfest fit, the rear gaurds will need to be pulled out by about 5mm which I had actually planed anyway so all is good. Once the car is on put back together, on the road and I have adjusted the Tien HA's ride hight, the rim should be level with the gaurds front and back :).

Update 16/04/02 I am in the prosess of fabricating new intercooler end tanks. I have cut the existing tank off the inlet side of the cooler to make way for new tanks.

Update 5/08/02 I have finally done some more work on the car, I am currently working on rewiring the car, I am stripping all looms of wires that are no longer needed, The battery will be relocated to the boot and all wiring incorperated into the one loom. Stay tuned for pics. I have also bought a genuine EVO sunroof for the car :)

Update 15/09/02 Here is a 3.5l Magna throtle body I will be using on my car with the custom plenum which will mount the TB on the opposite side of the engine bay to make way for the dump pipe off the back of the turbo. You can see the magna 65mm TB ont he right, and the 60mm EVO TB on the left

Update 16/10/02 I have just picked up my new turbo, this is a Garrett (XTR) GT3540 roller bearing turbo with a .82 exhaust housing, she will be a little laggy, but thats how I like it

Latest Update 04/03/03 Here are some pics of my cooler, now complete with end tanks. The parts have been TIG welded together by a mate of mine (AKA: DOOM). There are 9 seperate parts in the inlet tank (LHS) and 5 parts in the outlet tank. The mounts for the cooler and the rest of the plenum will be welded up tonight.

I have also scored a set of Genuine EVO 6 Recaro's.
I believe I will have a rather LARGE grin on my face when it comes time to bolt these suckes in ;)

This is what I hope the car will look like when finished, only better! (This photo was done in PhotoShop)
